Walter Tevis (1928 - 1984) was an American novelist and short story writer. Throughout his life, Tevis wrote more than two dozen short stories that were widely published and three of his novels have been adapted into films, including The Hustler starring Paul Newman and The Man Who Fell to Earth starring none other than David Bowie.
